How do I create a Campus Compass category in AccuCampus?

This article will discuss how to create a Campus Compass category and associate it with an existing service. For best practices on choosing Campus Compass categories, see the article, What are the best practices for building Campus Compass categories in AccuCampus?

1. Log into AccuCampus. From the Main Sidebar click on General.





2. Click on Services.





3. Click on Campus Categories.





4. Click on Create Category.





5. Enter a Name and Description for the category. 



NOTE: We recommend phrasing the name in the form of an "I" statement, such as "I need somewhere to eat!" or "I need somewhere to study!" This allows the student to self-identify with the category and choose the one that best applies to the services they are looking for. In addition, we recommend that the description be addressed to the student in a conversational tone, but not be too specific about locations or services.



6. If desired, add an Icon.





7. Click Save.





8. Navigate back to Services (Main Sidebar > General > Services). Choose a service that will be associated with the Campus Compass category.





9. Scroll to Campus Compass at the bottom of the page.

9a. Check the box next to Show in Compass.

9b. Select a Campus Compass category or categories that should direct students to that service.





10. Click Save.
