AccuTrack/AccuSQL: How can I make sure all my Computer Lab Plug-in PC's are set to the proper database? And the correct Local Lab or Center?

Introduction

In this guide, we have 2 ways to ensure that the Computer Lab Plug-in Computers you have installed are set to the proper Databases and Local Labs/Centers.  After reading this guide you'll know not only how to set them but how to replicate this setup to other computers using the same application.

How to check that the Local Lab or Center is set properly in the Computer Lab Plug-in computers:

  1. Start by logging into a computer running the Computer Lab plug-in software with the your Admin login credentials.

  2. You will see a screen that looks like this one and then you'll click the  Database Location  button.

  3. Now when prompted choose either Native (AccuTrack DB) or SQL Server (AccuSQL DB).  If not pointing to the proper database  correct it using either:
    1. AccuTrack settings: Set the Database Folder  and click the  Save  button.
    2. AccuSQL settings: Set the Shared Folder, SQL Server Connection Info, Choose the proper SQL Server Client Driver,  and then click the  Save  button.

  4. Finally click  OK  to confirm the changes and then click the  Return to Sign-in Screen  button to go back to the student sign-in screen.

  5. Repeat this process on each lab computer until all the lab computers are set properly to the correct database.
NOTE: To quickly replicate a database location to other computers using the same database:
You can copy the dbparam.dbf and the dbparam.fpt files to the exact same location (typically C:\Users\Public\Documents\AccuTrack\i2534411045\) on all the lab computers from a computer that is properly set to the lab once you know which lab/center it is set to in the software.

How to check that the Local Lab or Center is set properly in the Computer Lab Plug-in computers:

  1. Start by logging into a computer running the Computer Lab plug-in software with the your Admin login credentials.

  2. You will see a screen that looks like this one and then you'll click the  Lab ID  button.

  3. Now when prompted make sure the computer is set to the proper Lab.  If not  correct it using the drop-down box  and clicking the  Save  button.

  4. Finally click  OK  to confirm the changes and then click the  Return to Sign-in Screen  button to go back to the student sign-in screen.

  5. Repeat this process on each lab computer until all the lab computers are set properly to the correct Local Lab/Center.
TIP:  You can check this process another way using the Windows File Explorer application and looking in the "Shared Folder Path" (located in  the "C:\Users\Public\Documents\AccuTrack\i#number#" folder of  the Public Documents on the computer) for a file called:
  1. dbId.dbf
If this is found on the computer  (in the "ACCUTRACK" folder of the Public Documents on the computer)  then a Local Lab has been set.  The only problem is that you will not know which lab it is with out doing the process described above.
NOTE: To quickly replicate a lab identity to other computers in the same Local Lab/Center:
You can copy the  dbid.dbf  file to the exact same location (typically C:\Users\Public\Documents\AccuTrack\i2534411045\ ) on all the lab computers from a computer that is properly set to the lab once you know which lab/center it is set to in the software.
