Accudemia 7.0: Instructions for students on how to disable pop-up blockers to connect to virtual meetings

Introduction

Disabling pop-up blockers in your browser may help by allowing your virtual meeting software to connect.  In this article, there are several ways to accomplish this task for the Accudemia website.  Start by Selecting the browser that you are using in the Step-by-Step section.

Google Chrome

Block or allow pop-ups from a specific site

Not all pop-ups are ads or spam. Some legitimate websites display web content in pop-up windows.  Allow pop-ups from a site

  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. Go to a page where pop-ups are blocked.
  3. In the address bar, click Pop-up blocked Pop-up blocked.
  4. Click the link for the pop-up you want to see.
  5. To always see pop-ups for the site, select Always allow pop-ups and redirects from [*.accudemia.net] and then Done.

Mozilla Firefox

Pop-up blocker settings

To access the pop-up blocker settings:

  1. Click the menu button Fx57Menu and select Options.
  2. Select the Privacy & Security panel.
  • Under the Permissions section, uncheck the box next to Block pop-up windows to disable the pop-up blocker altogether.
  • A click on Exceptions… opens a dialog box with a list of sites that you want to allow to display pop-ups.
  • The dialog box offers you the following choices:
    Allowed Websites Pop-ups

Allow: Click this to add a website to the exceptions list.
Remove Website: Click this to remove a website from the exceptions list.
Remove All Websites: Click this to remove all of the websites in the exceptions list.

Apple Safari

Remove pop-up blockers

You can disable preventing webpages from displaying pop-up windows.

  1. In the Safari app on your Mac, choose Safari > Preferences, then click Websites.

  2. Click Pop-up Windows.

  3. Unblock pop-up windows for:

    • A website in the list: Select the website in the right column, then choose the option you want.

    • All websites that aren’t currently customized: Click the “When visiting other websites” pop-up menu in the bottom-right corner of the pane, then choose the option you want.

      You can see all websites you’ve customized under Configured Websites. If you don’t see Configured Websites, either you haven’t customized a website yet, or you’ve cleared the list. See Change Websites preferences in Safari on Mac.

    • All websites: Make sure no websites are listed under Configured Websites (to clear the list quickly, select the websites, then click Remove). Click the “When visiting other websites” pop-up menu, then choose the option you want.


Note: If you choose Block and Notify for pop-up windows on a website, click the icon in the Smart Search field to display the pop-up windows.



Microsoft Edge

Disable pop-up blockers


To do this:
  1. In the new Microsoft Edge , go to Settings and more  > Settings  > Site permissions.

  2. Select Pop-ups and redirects.

  3. Move the Block toggle to Off.
